As a graduate student, April has specialized in Russian religious history. Her research interests center around the theology and everyday religious practice of believers in the late Soviet period. April has teaching experience in the history of Christianity, Eastern Orthodox theology and history, modern European history, academic writing, and  Jewish history in Russia and the Soviet Union.

 

April is the editor of a popular-level translation of a work by the Russian Orthodox priest, Father Aleksandr Men'. She also translates academic articles and primary sources from Russian to English.
